Very happy to read your initial report Roy. Super cool guitar and seems to be an excellent counterpart for your uber pristine D-41. Loved the post you shared! Keep us posted as the days roll on.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. Day two with it is turning out to be as fun as day one.

I can’t forget to give Maury customer service props. Not only gave me a great price but when it looked like he might have to wait 2-3 weeks for these new models to arrive at his shop he drove to the factory the day after I ordered it and snagged this one for me. He dialed it in with a great setup and had it shipped the next day. Can’t beat that kind of CS.

I had never heard of such guitars before...I knew of the 00-17, and that 17s had existed for long, but it's the first D-17 I see.., and the first MARTIN dreadnought with slope shoulders that I see. Is it a re-issue, or a new model ?
Looks fun. Enjoy...

Thanks Roy...Heard that the new CEO-9 was a slope shoulder too, saw the new Modern Deluxe Series and a few others, but I missed this one it seems...Couldn't believe that you'd get a guitar announced at Namm that quick !
Here it might be a year or two before I get to see the first one !
Happy playing !
Bernie

Congrats Roy!! a worthy successor to the Gibson and the Taylor. Something about the slope-shoulder'ed body shape that (IMO) lends a certain.. *sweetness* to the notes. Of course, maybe that's just the ones I've played ! At any rate, count me as a huge fan of the body shape in general, and this one looks very comfy.

Enjoy! Glad you found something else to come home with ya.

Congratulations!!! I think Martin has killed it with this 17 series. My 000-17e just keeps getting better every day. Enjoy that beauty, I'm thinking it'll find its way into your hands a lot.

I'm sure the guitar sounds and feels amazing, but can I say, those photos are stunning! What did you use to photograph them?

Cool rug and looks like a nice home you live in.
