For $3 your problems could be solved:

I haven't used these, and while I can imagine them definitely being grippy, I know that I grip the pick lower than where the rubber ends and I would likely find it extremely annoying having that on my pick!

I ordered a couple of Guitar Moose picks on 1-21 after reading this thread.

Wish I could say that they are great, but I haven't received them yet. Twenty one days for a couple of picks seems excessive.

You could stick with your normal pick, and just use some Gorilla Snot (I know, but it works)

Also, is there anything that works that actually goes all the way around my thumb

You can do a 12 hour gig with this pick without your fingers turning blue

Hi, silly moustache here.

I don't have diabetes (afaIk) but I DO have very dry hands.

So nice to be mentioned here but I'd like to suggest some things.

1. Try a large triangle picks.

2. Score them - I use a Stanley knife to score cross hatching , but BE CAREFUL!

3. consider a thicker pick, try 1 m/m or more.

4. try those Herco "flat" thumb picks ... hybrid thum/flat picks. My hero Guy Clark used to get flat picks and rivet them to thumb picks - a thought.

Those are some options, and here are some techniques that "may" help.

Many people lose hold of their picks because they hold them TOO hard! the trick (I think) is to hold them "just" hard enough, but not too hard. This may not be practical for you but worth a try, esp. with thicker picks.

An old fashioned trick used by many - lick the pick just before you play each song - many do this. Just don't do it just before you dropped them in the restroom!

Here's me rambling on about picks ..might help:

Hope that helps.

I ordered some Wegen Bluegrass picks after reading some of this post and I REALLY like them. I've been using Dunlop Gator grips and I think the Wegen with the holes in it is much easier to hold on to.

The grip holes are really a cool idea, and you can drill small holes in any pick very simply and easily.

I probably posted this earlier in the thread, but it bears repeating. Take a simple piece of cotton medical tape and tape it down both sides of the pick from the top, sticky side down. It's fast, easy and cheap cheap cheap. Did I mention it's cheap?

I've been doing this for more than 30 years, and almost everyone who tries it says it works like a champ.

Try it before you laugh at it.

That seems much longer than I had to wait, but I have not ordered for a couple years. You may contact them to see.

Thanks again...

And what do you think of the specialty picks?

I also like DAVA, although they are not really stiff enough for anything like bluegrass flatpicking.

Terken, there's this hilarious story I can't find online right now. Sorry.

The first time Eddie van Halen met Les Paul, they were both getting their gear out and started laughing. The pulled out their picks and BOTH of them had put sandpaper on theirs, just like you. And they had never talked about it.

Great minds think alike.

Well, they arrived today, and I must admit that these are some very high quality, nicely made picks. Just spent half an hour working with them and am very impressed. They feel quite thick in the hand, but did not rotate. Will take a bit of getting used to, but maybe these are the ones. I hope!

I ruptured a disc in a freestyle wrestling meet a
and have lost all feeling in my fingertips.
Cannot feel much less hold a pick.
Trying Snakepick from australia, but pick angle
does not work for me, pointed end needs to
angle down about 30° for me.

Hoping to find a solution here
