Hey Todd, You will like it, almost black with the orange streaks just peeking through. Im amazed at how dark it really is and will be a monster. I can't remember what size neck you like, but this one is just shy of 1 13/16.

Here is an example of one that is finished. One thing to keep in mind that I have found is to make sure you know the machine head max and min head thickness that is required for the machine heads being used. I taper mine, so knowing this helps to know the plate size for from and back along with final machining of the neck blank.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. I will take that under consideration for my next - and maybe my current build. I thinned the headstock a bit too much so that it needs a veneer on the back plate. I've also kind of fallen out of love with the volute on my first build. It feels "clunky." That's the definition of a first build though so I may do away with it on #2.

Sorry to highjack your thread though. I just wanted to express my admiration for your tastes in appointments.

Not a problem Neil and all the best on the next build. Seeing all the different builders take on things inspires everyone of us.

Hey Todd, you don't live too far away, this could be one for you to try out to say, I have played one of his guitars. It's not often the request comes up for a wider neck.

Man, I could use a road trip too......I wish things were different with my parent situation. I've been really locked down for about a year now. I managed to get away one or two days and that's it. Things have become more dire now - so it's going to be a while.

One of these days/months/years I've got to get over there. First and foremost to see you and your guitars, and also to see where my ancestor (Chief Tecumseh) perished!

Very beautiful, just love the way you blended the back of the headstock into the neck, fantastic.
