Default Lion of Judah

This guitar will be shipping to Singapore next week but we thought we would share a few pictures before its departure. Its based on our 14 fret, 25.4" scale length Slope MacNaught body with an ergo/comfort Manzer wedge. Body woods are Cocobolo Rosewood back and sides with an Adirondack Spruce top. Madagascar Rosewood head plates, fingerboard and bridge. Bloodwood bindings with Maple/Walnut/Ebony purflings.

A special thanks to Harvey Leach for providing the awesome Lion of Judah inlay in the fret board!

Default Jubilee!

The Hebrew letters of the sound port form the word 'Yovel'. It means the Jubilee year, which in Biblical times occurred every 50 years, as the year after the seventh cycle of seven years. This was a time of great rejoicing, when individuals were supposed to emulate the mercy of the Lord by forgiving debts, freeing slaves and bestowing kindness. The English word 'Jubilee' is of course a transliteration of the Hebrew 'Yovel'.

There's a good Wikipedia entry on Yovel, the year of Jubilee. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jubilee_%28biblical%29

What a wonderful ornament for a guitar. "Make a joyful noise unto the Lord!"

Here in Fairhope, Alabama (and the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay), we have a phenomenon which happens nowhere else in the world.....called a Jubilee. No one is exactly sure why it happens, though it has been studied extensively, and even the most experienced followers can only tell you "when the conditions are favorable for one to occur," but not when one will.
When a Jubilee does occur, though, it usually only happens within a couple of hundred yard stretch of beach, and for only a short period of time....and when it does, you will see flounder and shrimp, along with crabs and many other delightful forms of sea creatures push right up along the edge of the water, making them easily gathered for a bountiful dinner...and a also a great time of rejoicing.

I love the balance between conservative and outrageous on this one, it is beautiful to my eyes.

I particularly love the Lion inlay. It looks as if it is mostly, if not completely, made of wood, and it is rather dramatic yet quite subtle at the same time. Just beautiful. Harv's work always, always floors me (and I'm not a big inlay fan).

I love the red hues, and the lion inlay is truly a work of art. Really nicely done!

And this year is the 50th/jubilee year of Singapore for those wondering the significance of it

I know where this is headed. Definitely going to check it out if they even let anyone touch it :P

Marcus, get up close and mention Tim and Mary sharing the build of his guitar with you. I think you might be invited to get a closer look.
