i can certainly see the craftsmanship in that rosette, but, for my tastes, i prefer the simple, "all-wood" look of the earlier pic. but that's just me. i don't have any artwork on any of my guitars, but i always appreciate it in others. this one is shaping up nicely!

For you guys that liked that rosette....sorry. For some reason it was not doing it for me. I wanted a little more contrast and intricacy.
Hopefully you guys like this one! It took a looong time getting it together. its not leveled or sanded yet but you get the idea.

By the way, that's some super tight grain on the top wood, very nice. Obviously the quilted mahogany is beautiful too.

Peter, if you are going to burn that first top, send it to me.

Not burning anymore tops Jay!
Actually, they are both the same top, just pulled off the inlay and re-did it.

Here's the finished rosette. I likes!
It will tie in nicely with the other inlays...

I love it! Is that real turquoise? Is it hard to work with in intricate work like that? It makes me think of Minoan art somehow. Just beautiful.

No, not real turquoise but reconstituted stone. A little more brittle that shell but still workable.
