Default Traphagen 000

Here's the link to David Grier playing his Traphagen in a 60 min intimate video shot and posted at Fretboard Journal. David's playing is otherworldly. The guitar is pretty good too!!

Love that interview Hans. Thanks. Amazing how nice Dake's dreds sound as well. I was very torn between his slope D and the 000. I was impressed by the fact that David Grier has a Whitebook dred and Dake's is his weapon of choice.

That being said, I know Dake favors building the smaller bodied finger style guitars that perhaps require a little more finesse to get the big voice out of a smaller body. I'm truly amazed at the clarity, volume and bass he is able to get out of the 000 body. Strums pretty **** well to.

Can't go wrong either way really. Just sort of unexpected coming from a classical builder which is what inspired me to post in the first place. I get a kick from the irony of a down to earth world class flat picker like David Grier killing it on a dred from a classical builder. I love it.

I had a chance to play that before Dake shipped it and "alive" is a good descriptor. Great sounding guitar that really did respond to a light touch. Congratulations.

What speaks volumes to me are the dynamics which Grier is capable of on this guitar. He has a masterful right hand. I can't think of anyone I have seen or heard who can teach the level
of complexity in right hand picking. His playing strikes me like a Fingerstyle player but with a pick. This far exceeds most hybrid flatpickers imho. I'm am always gob smacked when I see or hear him. Guitar is lovely and the player is otherworldly in my view.

Agree 100%. Grier is incredible. 8 hrs of practice a day along with God given ability. Wow!

So do I. A lesson well learned I'm sure by many of us.

Default Traphagen

I have a 000 that Dake built for me bra/Italian. After 40 + years of playing everything on the planet, his guitars are stellar! The most responsive instrument I've ever played. Congrats, you couldn't have chosen more wisely
