What tool do I need to adjust this truss rod?
I want to adjust the truss rod on my J50. I’ve adjusted truss rods before but this one looks different. Looks like I need some kind of a ratchet wrench... is that what I need to use?

I use this on my J45.

Maybe the easiest way is to use a 12 point socket with an extension, or buy a Taylor truss rod wrench

That looks like the TR adjustment on my J-15. Is that a Gibson? EDIT: Oops-- just noticed in your OP you said it's a J-50) Mine came with a little tool that is "L" shaped, with the short part of the L being a hex socket, and the long part is a handle that has a little Phillips (cross point) screwdriver at the end.
Seems Gibson should sell those. Or amazon. I would avoid using a 12 point socket. If it's a little bit off in size you can chew up the nut. You want a good, proper fit. I imagine the right size of hex socket could work. EDIT: Here's one on amazon (there are many) that looks like mine: https://www.amazon.com/Allparts-LT-4...s%2C195&sr=8-4

Looks like the same as the J45.
I suggest you contact Gibson.

Should be a 5/16” nut. You can use a regular socket but it should have a fairly thin wall. A 1/4” drive would probably be your best bet. A 6 point socket is preferable to a 12 point.

Just type "Gibson truss rod wrench" in the search box @ StewMac.com, Amazon, or eBay.

A thin walled long hex or 12 point socket, attached to a ratchet (perhaps with an extension) should work fine. Dunno what the socket size is.

I use the wrench that came with my midtown standard bass on all my Gibson's, even the one from the 30's.

A 5/16 nut driver from ace hardware worked on my LG2
