Default Updates...

Thanks again for all the kind comments. It is coming together even better than I envisioned and I can't wait to see the final result and play it in a few months.

Sanding the Bridge to the top radius:

Binding work:

Cool pic:

And a preview of the end result:

And ANOTHER stunning piece of koa for the backplate:

And a re-post of the headplate for easy viewing:

Thank you Paul, I appreciate the kind words.
And yes, we are indeed enjoying this project.
Just seeing John’s guitar coming to life is a real joy.

That's so pretty. Just a feast of koa. Perfect miters on the white purfling. Very impressive

I have said it before, but will say it again, the Koa is outstanding and that natural Koa torch on the headstock is simply fantastic.

Default Logo and Neck

It's been a busy couple of weeks at Kinnaird West, but we have some progress and she should be going for finish shortly:

Logo. We went back and forth on Macassar or Paua for the logo and at Steve's recommendation settled on Paua to tie in the rosette and side dots...design continuity and stuff...

I've seen this done in person a handful of times now and it still seems like some kind of supernatural phenomenon that a neck can go from a block of wood to a perfectly shaped musical sculpture in a few hours...by hand:

Ready for finish:

Clean fretwork and side dots:

Default Ready for Finish!

Last couple of shots before finish!

Looks like it's going to be close enough to call a birthday present from a timing standpoint!

Many thanks, Bruce. I’m sorry you won’t be making it to BIG this year.
It won’t be the same without you.

I saw your guitar the other day John, that Koa is amazing. Something done squeezed that tree and made some amazing art work.

Guys…this is an absolutely beautiful guitar!!! When I see wood like this, it humbles me and reminds me that I exist in the beauty of the greatest artist of all…..and that my work is merely the shadow cast from standing in His light.

Steve…it resonated with me when you told John that you are, “still trying to make Dad proud.” ❤️
