Default First astrophotography mosaic

This is a simple two panel mosaic of the Milky Way with several nebula and globular clusters in the view:

It's two pictures on the left and right and stitched together. The final file is 140 mb and really stressed my computer. If I can do it with my computer, I'll try to add at least one more panel. It would be amazing if I can do 7 more, but that's not very likely.

Gorgeous as ever and truly humbling to see just how large and full of stars and galaxies our universe is!

Nice to see the Eagle and the Swan/Omega nebula on the left. I found myself tilting my head as left is North, and I always think of North being UP. I had to make the image vertical to feel right.

I am quite curious about your color management/processing.

My camera is rotated so the image looks like that all the time so that's how I'm used to seeing it. Of course, rotating it in any direction is no big deal.

The colors are generated by Startools. There's some color noise in the faintest part of the dust to the left of the Lagoon that I should probably try to get rid of, but I'm going to see if I can add another image, which would be to the right in my pic, before I finalize anything.

That's fantastic, Rob. Last night I watched a YouTube video of the size of the universe. I've seen many of those videos over the years and they always get me... from our solar system, to the milky way, to the local group to the x, to the y and it keeps getting bigger. That's just the observable universe.

Thanks Dru. Yeah, it's crazy.

Here's a slightly different version of the mosaic:

RE: StarTools. Its ability to "time travel" in terms of data is stunning when it comes to noise, a game changer. I have never seen anything like it. I am not so crazy about what it does for color. I freely admit that I most likely have not used it as much as you have done. So I could be far far away from legitimate comments.

Nice stuff.

When you see a picture like that, it’s hard to believe that anyone can accept that the human race is “alone”.

Thanks, but color is somewhat subjective. What an eye sees, what a typical sensor sees, and what an IR sensor sees are all different. One can measure spectral lines I suppose and scientificly calibrate it perfectly, but who has time to do that?

Yeah, the colors maybe a bit much, but I, personally, like a lot of color.

Yup... defintely. Something that crosses my mind often when processing these pictures.
