Romo, Collinsworth, and Costas for sure. I also enjoy the Cubs' TV team of Len Kasper and Jim DeShais, as well as Jason Benetti and Steve Stone for the White Sox.

OK, I’ll give a definite +1 to Costas, as well. Seldom fails to impress with his preparedness and presentation style.

I remember Sean with the Red Sox and I liked him too.

+1 one on Collinsworth, and Costas but I'm not just neutral on Tony Romo. He'll probably grow on me though.

I think John Smoltz is the best analyst in sports. Always great insight to game strategy. I’d put Jim Palmer up there, too.

Don Meredith was not as insightful but he was sure a lot of fun! “Turn out the lights, the party’s over.....” Classic.

For my money, though, the best all around was Doc Emerick. He could make boring games exciting. Losing him to retirement was tough. But he went out with class, just as you’d expect.

Also, being from the DC area, we always loved the team of Sonny Jorgensen, Sam Huff and Frank Herzog for the Redskins.

Costas would be at the absolute bottom of my list. He’s way too political and I hate when that gets mixed in with sports. Sports is an escape from all that.

You know when you have serious guitar-brain when it takes you a beat to process the title of this thread. I mean, I have a telecaster and a stratocaster, I know what partcasters and nocasters are, but what the heck is a sportscaster???

Don't worry, it wasn't a very long second before my brain shifted gears. But there was definitely a pause.

Tony Romo. Guy's practically a psychic when it comes to reading a play before it unfolds. Hands down the best.

Fishermike - great pun on 'sportscaster'! I have a few Stratocasters, assembled my own partscaster, and would like to own a nocaster ($$$). No ownership with Sportscasters though.
