That's absolutely stunning, beautiful craftsmanship Mark. Looking forward to seeing this guitar w/ the finish on.

Little Things
I started using a new headstock design on this guitar. It's not anything fancy. However, I did sneak in some little touches. Here are a couple pictures of the solid dummy I practiced on before making this guitar:
This one has a small bevel on top which I like but this guitar has a bound overlay which doesn't work soo well with the bevel. I like these lightweight inline tuners from Scheller which was what got me started on this new design. The guitar will have a gold version of these. You may be seeing that I am beveling the underside. There are a couple reasons I am doing this: One is to make the sides a little thinner so the headstock looks a little less clunky. I like the thick slot head look but I think solid heads look a little sleeker when they are thinner. The second reason is this: Having a hard pointed underside edge of the headstock getting chipped up when taking hits is a pet peeve of mine. I think having a bevel there is an elegant way to help address that. Little things can make a guitar look and work better just like the little things that add up to make a guitar sound better! Mark

Your point is well-taken. Never thought of that.

The under-side bevel is a very nice refinement, Mark, and your reasoning is spot-on. I appreciate your ongoing thoughtfulness about small but relevant changes in guitar design.

Finish is on!
I'm working away getting ready for the Artisan Show in April in Harrisburg PA. I will be showing this Green Mountain Series Josie Model. Josie is a small jumbo with a hard Western Red Cedar top:
This has a green turquoise rosette and headstock inlay. The fretboard, binding and arm bevel are Snakewood I am very happy how the finish is bringing out the animal on this Leopardwood and Snakewood/turquoise embellished back You can also see we have a Snakewood rib bevel and the neck and headstock are Leopardwood, cut from the same billet of wood the back and sides come from.

Mark, that is a beautiful guitar. I really love the stone rosette, and of course, the leopard wood really pops under finish! Well done
