Default Still no rechargeable clip-on tuners?

As a consumer, I (still) want a tuner that requires no battery purchases.

Either:

- an otherwise-normal tuner that is chargeable via a USB input

- just a plain, no-power clip with a cord that plugs into an an Apple tablet? (and with the tuning app running in the tablet?)

If such a thing already exists, can anyone point me toward it?

If not, would any of the entrepreneurs on this forum make it happen?

Obviously last year I mis-titled the thread below (sigh), but it’s hard to believe that another holiday season is approaching...

Am I the only one who would buy one/many? I’d like to have a tuner in each case, but keeping the batteries fresh would be a sad job.

Happy apologies if something just debuted at NAMM... and many thanks regardless.

You can buy 10 packs of the batteries for $3 on eBay.... just keep some fresh ones handy, no issues.

Rechargeables don't last as long and batteries are cheap and last me forever. No market for them.

the batteries in my peterson and my snark both last a long time. while having a rechargeable setup would keep you from having to buy batteries, you would still have to take longer to recharge it than to replace the battery. plus the manufacturer would have to charge more for the rechargeable battery.

play music!

Agree with others, CR2032 batteries are too cheap via Amazon to screw around with recharging.

I have one. It is not a "professional quality" piece of equipment, but tunes chromatic, guitar, uke, base, violin. You can reset "A" if you don't like 440.

On Amazon now for about $10.00. Aroma AT103. Comes with its own micro USB and shuts itself off.

It is at least as good as the d'Addario "minis" I use. Since I am a livingroom player, it is more than good enough for me. YMMV, and if you are a working musician, it may not be up to your required standards.

Thanks everyone.

I guess the lesson here is to get batteries from Amazon.

I have a few small calculators that run on solar or battery.
No reason a clip on tuner couldn't be made the same way.
It would probable be a bit bigger than a Snark though.

I use OnBoard Research tuners, had them for decades and slip in a set of batteries every few years. I think the newer tuners eat them faster.

Unfortunately, not all of us have that option. Amazon won’t ship batteries to Alaska, and as a result Batteries + Bulbs and other retailers really gouge us on battery prices.

I pick them up when traveling Outside. Otherwise I have to pay a LOT more.

I’d be up for owning a decent tuner that was rechargeable- I feel like going through loads of batteries every year and changing them before they’re fully spent so they don’t dies halfway through a gig can’t be very good for the environment...

I keep extra batteries in all my instrument
cases. If the tuner dies during the performance
i just get a new battery . If a rechargeable tuner
dies during a performance. What do you do?
You can get 2032 batteries even cheaper on ebay.
