Bigsby on a Tele
So I recently sold my two electrics that had Bigsby vibrato bars on them. I needed to downsize, and decided I only need my Telecaster since it is versatile and sounded the best. However, the Bigsby has become a part of my electric style, so I’m thinking of ordering one to have installed on my white American Special Telecaster. Does anyone have any input for/against this? I’ve never seen/heard a Tele with a Bigsby in person.

Yep, my way cool Telecaster has a Bigsby vibrato.
I went the Vibramate option which meant that I didn't have to drill into the body of my guitar and could take it off if I didn't want it anymore. (As if that's going to happen). Good luck! |

I wasn’t familiar with Vibramate, thanks for the tip. I don’t plan on taking it back off once it’s on, but the Vibramate would definitely make self installation easier! Thanks for the reply.

I have two new Bigsby(s) made for Telecasters.
One is the standard B5 and the other has a molded F for Fender. The installation is invasive and irreversible. The bridge needs to be drilled out. Several screw holes added and the neck angle must be reset by a lot. I have six Telecasters, but lack the nerve required to modify any of them. In my opinion Bigsbys look very cool on a Tele. I have a Bigsby on a Collings 290 with TV Jones pickups and that's enough for me.

+1 on the Vibramate V5 for installing the Bigsby. I used one on my 2006 SG 'Classic', but they have the same thing specifically designed for Teles. Makes for a very easy, clean install.

I have put a Vibramate/Bigsby setup on a Tele, and yes, as these things go it's not that tough. Recommended.

I had a local Luthier friend install the Vibramate on my Telecaster so I don't really know how easy it was to install.
I love it and it's never coming off. Last edited by Steel and wood; 06-07-2018 at 05:27 PM. |

Half of my Teles are Bigsbyfied. It’s a great addition.

Tell me that bound three tone sunburst Fender Telecaster complete with Bigsby is your favourite.

It’s a good one. 2004 CIJ 62 Reissue with Lollar pickups and RS Guitarworks guts. But it’s not my #1 Tele. The two Suhr Teles would be #1A and #1B (in no particular order). Suhr’s stuff is just so ridiculously good that I can’t put them down. Best fretwork in the business, IMO.
