Dave - I have been in touch with Dale and completion is "imminent'!

The headstock and fretboard will hopefully be completed this week - then to the spray booth... the PLEK machine and then... ROAD TRIP TO BURLINGTON!

I hope to do a full tour of the facilities with many photos and captions for AGF.

Rick

It appears the Super Smeck, adorned with killer celluloid, has been completed. Gorgeous burst, huge body, gorgeous wood, sublime headstock design. This should be a real treat to play. Adam Buchwald approves.

Wow… that is one beautiful guitar. It already looks like a classic. And that pickguard is unique - a great touch. Hope you receive it soon!

That’s the Iris\Fairbanks\Circle Strings PLEK. The PLEK is an incredible device that analyzes a fretboard and then creates whatever parameters you want. It adjusts frets with or without strings and cuts the nut. Ill try to find a good video about it for you.

It’s pricey, about the cost of paying a worker for two years. But it’s incredibly productive and never has an issue with fatigue or repetitive stress issues.

Fretwork is arguably the most important element of the guitar\human interface. And it’s the toughest to get ‘just right’, let alone reproducible.

Here’s a good video about the PLEK and its capabilities:

That guitar has the most visual mojo I’ve seen in a loooong time. Wow! The back of the neck is killer.

Thanks!

I guessed PLEK when I saw the picture, but since I didn't know any
details until I saw the video you posted, I was confused by the guitar
having strings on it...

I suppose I could have lied and said that it was a teleportation device. But that might expose Dale’s deepest secret that he is actually retrieving guitars from Kalamazoo, MI made in 1942…. Oops, did I say that?

Congrats Juston, looks like they inlayed a lightbulb into the back, that is a different touch for sure, I like it though.
