Do you mean chords like D and A? Unless you have unusually large fingers I'd say it doesn't matter so much. A wider nut and wider string spacing (because how the strings are spaced within that 1 11/16" or 1 3/4" or 1 13/16", etc can vary), typically make it easier to pick out single notes on different strings (aka fingerstyle or picked arpeggios).

One thing that can make a huge difference is that your guitar is set up well, so that the strings are as easy to press down as they can be. If you want more information on how to know or what to look for, you are in the right place.
