I've had some reliability issues with 2 different Peterson Stroboclips but a lot of people here love them and haven't had any problems. Because of that, I now use the TC Electronics Polytune and find it works just fine. The Peterson does have a much better range of motion, though. For the price, I'm not sure why the Polytune doesn't do the same. That's the biggest drawback of the Polytune IMO.

Another Peterson user. I have the “newer version” and the original version (aluminum casing). Very happy with them.

After I kept breaking the clip on tuners I bought the D'Addario sound hole tuner. For convenience nothing is better but its not the most sensitive and you have to find the right spot for it to work. Have four of them and different guitars and they work fine for me.

I love the Peterson Stroboclip HD. I also own a Unitune but it's a very tight fit on my headstock and isn't as adjustable as the Peterson when it comes to positioning the screen. Battery life seems to be significantly better than the Unitune.
You get what you pay for and both are good tuners. IMHO, the Peterson is worth the extra $20 Last edited by Dogsnax; 10-08-2020 at 04:43 PM. |

Nothing wrong with my Snarks. Got a couple that I've had for a number of years and going strong, working great. Got no use for other, more expensive ones.

I use a Kliq Ubertuner. Not sure how old it is as I got it second hand. So far so good after... I can't remember but I think I've had it for a month or two so far.

I have the D'Addario soundhole tuner in a couple of guitars that I re-tune a lot and a Polytune for the others.
For fun, I clipped the Polytune onto the headstock of a guitar that also had the D'Addario soundhole tuner and compared them while tuning. They were exactly the same. |

I know some people have had a problem with the clip on breaking. Do the other brands never break? |

I have a Snark and an Ibanez PU10. Both many years old but still good performers. Not in the same league, perhaps, as the Peterson and TC, but cheap. The manager of a top guitar shop I go to uses the TC. He has his choice of any of the tuners there, and has to tune guitars all day for customers to try out. He had to tune five for me the last time I was there, so of course I'll have to get one for that reason.
The clip on my Snark has never been a problem, but a bit of plastic has chipped off the housing of the upper ball joint, so I have to be careful with it. |
