Baritone Soundported
Thank to AGF for courage to did soundport.
Lot of informations here helped me, special thanks to Tim McKnight and Alan Carruth. http://www.premierguitar.com/Magazin...age=1&#gallery Later I will make some audio/video clips, for now only some old tune... http://soundcloud.com/zambosi/05-joe...e-cd-prituhuje some pixs: Last edited by hyenik; 04-13-2019 at 03:35 PM. |

It's nice clean work. What make is the guitar?

Personal monitor of course.
Slight change in overall sound (more harmonics, more open sound), but this will be proved(?) via clips. |

Once again, nice work. You didn't answer my question two years ago when this thread first appeared, so I'm not holding my breath waiting for you to answer it this time, but I'm still curious as to who the builder of this fine instrument might be. Also, what tuning do you keep your baritone in?

I'm pretty sure that the OP did answer your question, at least as far as his command of a language-that-is-not-his-first allowed him to understand it! I think he understood your question "What make is the guitar?" to be, "why did you add a soundport?" (to which his response, "Personal monitor of course." makes complete sense). Now that you've asked him who the BUILDER is, I'm sure he'll tell you... Phil

Okay, sorry about that. I'll try restating that.
To Hyenik: who built this beautiful baritone guitar? What tuning do you keep it in? Wade Hampton Miller |

Nothing to be sorry about...I just read it differently (thanks to long experience with verb-challenged immigrants).
I'm interested in who the builder is, as well (and wonder why he didn't have the soundport done at build time). I love that rosette...simple but very different and eye-catching. Phil

Sorry, I thought that all answers are replied in links above and old posts from other threads
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...2&postcount=18 http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...4&postcount=21 http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...5&postcount=23 Scale is really long and this 29 3/4" came from D´Addario info about EXP 23 strings. Next time I would choose a bit shorter one, because tension of strings are high, and this is why I tune Bb - bb (instead of typical B-b, because with this tuning soundboard starts to bulge...) Builder is czech luthier Zdenek Macho. Meanwhile he has FB pages with lot of pics of his work https://cs-cz.facebook.com/pages/Mac...33996030012527 We only thought about soundport during building time, but at this time (ca. 10 years ago) we have not enough informations and courage I decided to do after studying posts from AGF, using manuals nad tips from here, which I traslated for another luthier http://www.kaiser-guitars.cz/cs/nase-nastroje/ Position of first soundport is because of reinforcement rib of sides, and after it showed, that works good only if I stand (during sitting not so good), but I afraid have soundport closer to heel of neck (here was mentioned about more basses). But after some time guitar needs some service, and I was not so chicken-hearted, so I decided to do another soundport and now they work in every situation and I have perfect stereo now and some other tune with it PS: This rosette somebody calls "circus tent" But I like it, and I´m glad that I´m not alone Last edited by hyenik; 03-30-2014 at 02:40 AM. |

Thanks for filling us in on the rest of that. Very cool guitar.
I have a 28.3" scale length on my McAlister acoustic baritone guitar, which is about as long as I would want to go. I did own and use a Danelectro electric baritone guitar for a while, which had a 30" scale, but that one was a bit too much of a stretch for me. I initially thought that I was going to tune my baritone from C to C, but figured out pretty quickly that B to B was the most practical for me. Wade Hampton Miller |

Could you tell me a tad more about this ; what made you prefer B-B rather than C-C. I'm considering having a baritone built, and this is one of my "unknown" at this point. I think choosing one over the other could influence the scale choice and string gauge. Any advice regarding this ?
