Default Daughters

I learned this song for my daughter. I have always really liked John Mayer's music and this song holds so much meaning. I tried to mix this up a little since I was playing with only a single guitar so let me know what you think and what would improve it.

Thanks,

Bud

Nice song, Bud! I like your voice, nice and rich. Those chords are nice, too!

Since you're looking for suggestions, I'll offer two:
1. Don't be afraid to really open up your air supply and just let the singing come out. It sounds a little restrained and there's some power back there waiting to just come out. As the song moves towards the end it sounds like you're letting it flow a little more, so it might just be a warming-up/confidence thing. Sing it, you've got it!
2. Playing dynamics. I don't know far along you are in your playing, but I think a good next step would be to work on some different dynamic levels for your playing. Not just loud/soft differences, but gentle/firm as well (It's tricky, but there is a subtle difference). You've got some nice chords going in this song, and it sounds like you're fretting them really well, nice and clean. Start working on the other hand to give the song some dynamic character. Let it build and bring it down. Play with it and see what you like.

Really good stuff, Bud. I'm not really a John Mayer fan, but your cover was most enjoyable. I thought the single guitar thing worked really well. Keep it up and keep it simple. Thanks for sharing!

Bel isi,
-kyle

I'd never heard this song before but you did a great job. Again, the vocals are shining through. Well sung and nicely recorded.

I love this song now. I'm going to have to learn it. Your version has inspired me.

I like it.

I actually recorded the same song but left it unfinished for a while. You just reminded me to finish it.

Good job.

Bud, very well done! This is one of the few Mayer songs I really like. I have two daughters (grown with children of their own, now), so it hits close to home.
