Default Murphy's wood cleaner. Is it safe?

Is this safe to clean your fretboard with?

Just use a little water on a clean rag - just enough to make the rag damp.

what is the fretboard material?

I wouldn't ever use this stuff or any commercial product not specifically made for guitars or instruments. In fact, that stuff is actually pretty nasty really don't use it.

for cleaning Rosewood and Ebony fretboards most techs will use 0000 steel wool, and use a low tack tape to cover sound holes, and pickups. (Like blue painters tape)

if you can find 0000 brass wool, that is even better.

take a bit of steel / brass wool, make a pad out of it, and buff the fretboard in the direction of the wood grain.

use a clean 1" or 2" paint brush (a new one for example...) and remove any wool dust before you take any of the tape off.

After that you can hydrate the wood with something like Guitar Honey, Nomads F1 or one of the many fretboard conditioners on the market.

Olive oil will oxidize and go rancid. Not a good choice.
