Love it, yes perhaps you should hire that talented daughter of yours to rename the line-up...I am not even sure what I have except I know it sounds like it was made for angels to play!

The neck is ready for finish, and the body is only a couple of hours behind it. Unless I get carried away on fingerboard inlay, it looks like this guitar will have taken between 100 and 110 hours of labor. I do include shop clean up specific to this guitar's mess, but not HHG drying time, which I often spend practicing music. Here's the unique (but metamorphic) headstock, pre-finish, from two points of view: |

About two years ago...
This thread inspired me to spend some time today playing the FT-16-C-J-185 (now that you know Bruce’s code, this should be easy )that Bruce made for me two years ago. It is not a “Penngrove” that he he is now making for Tom’s event. Because it has a slightly narrower waste than Bruce’s standard plantilla and the shape by request is highly derivative of a Gibson J-185.
Obviously, what is going on “under the hood” is not Gibson-like, but is pure “Bruce” in its tone. Despite its large size, because Bruce builds guitars so lightly, it weighs only 3 lb. 14 oz. This guitar is a dream to play, is both forgiving and wonderfully MUSICAL! It seems to combines the fast attack, an articulate bass, strong midrange and fundamental sound of a mahogany guitar with some enhanced sustain and overtones we associate with rosewood guitars

Bruce, will you be displaying at the Artisan Show in Harrisburg PA in April 2020?
We thought to go to the 2019 event but PA was in a never-ending flood watch, so we decided to sit it out. I'm a very middling guitarist, but love nice tone and playability. I need to determine if my skills are commensurate with custom shop Martins (which can be very nice BTW), or if something luthier-built is more my style. For the record, I've tried a couple (names we've heard) luthier-built OM BRZ guitars and wasn't impressed enough to warrant a purchase.

I do not plan to attend “Artisan” this year. I did go last year and it is as good as show as any, but I can’t hit them all. This year I will attend B.I.G.(er), La Conner, GVBGF, and Woodstock.
At the moment I am aware of 4 new BRW OM guitars for sale that came from my bench. Two are traditional pre-war style, one at Dream and the other at Guitar Gallery. The other two are contemporary, one at Schoenberg Guitars and the other, the newest, is here in my shop. If I still have it, the one I have will likely go to the shows with me. |

Wishing a trouble free Boxing Day to all.
Today I put the third coat of oil varnish on the BIGer Penngrove. Looks about the same as the last picture as far as the camera is concerned. Soon I will have the deposit in hand from CigarFan and will begin his guitar, a Cuban Mahogany Single 0, unless he has a change of heart design-wise. |

It's in the mail!
Really looking forward to this Bruce. Ever since I played Bob's at Woodstock I've been thinking about this one! I'm excited to see the master get started!

Oh my Bob! That is so hard to imagine since I thought the thing just sang like an angel. As Bruce has told us, it's not the wood … it's the maker!

Single O cut
Looks pretty magical just sitting there to me… And I am sure it sounds even better than it looks!
Cheers Paul

I rarely post pictures in the finish process because the guitars look only incrementally better with each coat. But since I have tendered similar photos before and after sealer in this case, I thought I'd break my ritual and give you half way through the varnish process.
So, here you're looking at 4 out a projected 8 coats: |
