Here's a vote for the Newtones. Thank you for this post. It's interesting and helpful.

great comparison video - no nonsense just comparing sounds - well done
this is how all "shoot out" videos should be done I use Elixirs but I liked the sound of the DR's

I vote Elixirs. They're was a crispness to them that I like. They have a lot of detractors. I'm just not one of them.

Thank you so much for this comparison. So easy to hear the difference in each of these strings.
Can you tell us what guitar you used? Is it a maple guitar, like shown in the picture? If you have a Rosewood B&S guitar....would love to hear the same comparison done with that combination. Asking with a great big "Please" do the same comparison with a rosewood guitar. Sometimes a string's tonality will totally change with the tonewoods choosen. I am a huge Newtone Masterclass Roundcore fan. |

In that room, with that mic, with that guitar, I preferred the DR's.
I might have to try some. |

Great no-nonsense sound comparison but it doesn't really matter how good Elixirs sound I just can't use a string that feels like it's been smeared with fried chicken fat.

Based on my experience and preference it would be Elixir Nano. I find the others don’t have the sound I’m looking for, and the DRs seem to barely last a week for some reason. Many on this forum like DR strings and have good luck with them. I find Elixir Nano strings play in and loose the slick feeling in a couple of days. They are expensive, but they last a long time; and if you slide your fret fingers you might appreciate the lack of “squeak”.

thanks all for kind words
Always try to do solid comparisons Yes guitar is Avian Ibis maple, this one, only with fan fret, I have no solidbody rosewood guitar yet, so canīt say. I donīt expect so big differences. Maple has a bit harder tone, mahogany a bit lower, but more in feeling than in real audible sound. Probably similar like in this Avian Skylark comparison |

The DR's sound the best to me, followed by the Newtones.

In that test, I think I would give the slightest edge to the DR, followed very closely by the Newtones, then the Elixirs. I preferred the Newtones on some of the passages and the DR's on others.
They all sounded very good. I love a guitar that sounds good no matter what strings you put on it. |

Just fitted a set of masterclass Newtone strings in place of my usual Santa cruz parabolic low tensions, these two makes are now ,(in my opinion )the best strings available.I am hard pressed to chose between them ,I think the newtone have a bit more sustain and are cheaper, somfor now .....Newtone 1st,parabolics ,veryclose 2nd.
