2019 Martin Jr
The jr has been changed to a 000 body depth. It was 4 3/8. The 2019 model and the previous jr sound different. I'm going to buy several more of the older models while I can.

I really like my Djr and I wonder why Martin felt the need to make it narrower. I want to try one of the new ones and hear if there is a difference. I can understand why you'd want one of the originals but why do you want ''several''?

Several? Why on earth would you want 'several'? Is there a zombie apocalypse imminent or something?

The original was perfect as it was. Intrigued by this new version, particularly as the original was so comfortable to begin with.

2019 Martin Jr
I have a first gen D Jr. This is the first I’m hearing of any body depth change. I don’t understand why they would mess with something that works. Dumb.
Update: I just perused the Martin site and it also has a new name: DJR-10. It says they changed to 000 body depth and smoother rounded back for comfort purposes. That’s funny...I switched from a full size dread to Junior because the Junior was a lot more comfortable. Interesting that nowhere do they mention it’s a “7/8” size dread like before. If you at the specs for the original D Jr under “discontinued” models, it doesn’t even mention body depth. Last edited by Blueser100; 02-01-2019 at 09:00 AM. |

Martin's explanation does make sense. It is about comfort. It is slightly smaller depth wise and has a more rolled back edge. We will all have to try it out. |

Can’t say I like that MoTS rosette they put on the new one either.

I think they had to justify the change as more than just making it shallower. They also stained the back and sides a reddish color...

Since they seem to have ditched the "7/8" scale idea, maybe they could make the scale lenght at least 24.75 and they'd have a real winner on their hands. It would seem like less of a travel or starter instrument and more like an outstanding value full-size guitar.
I hate dreadnoughts because they aren't comfortable but I LOVE THE WAY THEY LOOK. A longer scale on the scaled down body would be killer. It would essentially be a squared should 000 or so. I'm all in on that. |

Yes, Dread Jr Super; same original depth, 24.75 scale, gloss finish.
It would really be like a square shoulder 00 and I'd be all over it! |

The older version has that Martin dreadnought bass thump that sounds like what I expect from a Martin. I bought 5 of them because I love the model. I am shocked they have gone to a 000 on this one. Maybe the market is calling for a blance sound. I didn’t want a 000 sound on this guitar!

I'm still morning the loss of a great dreadnought that didn't have anything close in bass response in this size.😰😰
