A Sully's vintage strap, slotted bridge and no slot bridge pins in water buffalo, and a nice new hard shell case.

My first thought was a D28.
Yes, get your D18 a D28 to talk too. Or perhaps a nice Gibson? My D18 and J45 had ongoing discussions about how to play well together, and play well together they did! Yes, call it what you will, but get your D18 a suitable companion for its 50th. You’ll be glad you did. |

Forgot to mention that Mr Kimsey, as part of its 40th birthday spa treatment, removed and reset the bridge, a little over 1/32", mine having been made with one of the faulty gage sticks Martin was using to set the bridges in '72.
I've been away from it since last spring, when we left FL to head north for the summer and fall. I took only one guitar, and while here sold it and bought the PYM70 Yairi parlor, so I'm anxious to play the new stuff I've learned on the D-18 and the others. All the new stuff is from my go-to guy on YouTube, Mr Daddy Stovepipe. The one I want to play and feel on the D-18 the most is Leo Kottke's "First to Go."

If not a brother or sister, then I'd say a new top of the line case (and of course, keep the OEM)

Not sure if yours has the heavy Grover tuners, but if so I'd get them off for something lighter and more accurate, I would suggest pings, of course the ones with the same footprint. That will also supply you with much better insurance against snapping off your headstock.
