I brought my 914CE in to have the finish check checked.
I posted about this about a month ago. Somehow a 4"-5" top finish check appeared on my one year old 914ce. I played it one morning, put it on its stand for an hour while I did a couple of things, went back to get it and this ugly check had appeared on the top. The stand is kept in a corner of the room that my dogs can't get to and that my wife never enters.
I brought it into David Dick at Union Music, a fine luthier and Taylor certified service tech. He looked at and at first thought (as I did initially) that it was a scratch. Then I had him look closer and he agreed it was a finish check right through to the spruce, something he had never seen before. Today he calls Taylor to explain what he has and his recommendation to them is that they issue an RO and take it in for a look. There's no guarantee that they'll fix it under warranty, but at least I have a respected tech going to bat for me. Wish me luck!
