The fusion series gets my attention but the specs don't specify solid wood back and sides.would it sound that much better than my c5? I know the neck is more narrow but that's all I see

The Kremona Fiesta F65CW-SB fits your criteria pretty well - all solid, electronics, and a cutaway. It's got standard 52mm nut width and 650mm scale. I don't see many new ones available, but there are used ones on Reverb and other sites in the $650-$850 range.

I like my Orchestra 12 solid cedar top with laminate sides and back. It's got a great sound. Cost me about $800 new at Guitar Center.
My #1 nylon string guitar is my Cordoba GK Pro Negra... all solid wood with a 1.96" width... Bought new they will run about $1,600. Unless you are willing to buy used, its going to be tough to find a cutaway, all solid wood nylon string guitar with electronics for under $1,000.

I'd think it will be pretty tough to upgrade from the Cordoba 5ce with a new all-solid guitar with cutaway and good electronics for under $1000. +1 recommendation that you consider used.

I like the Tom Prisloe Pavan TP-20 for $1295. It is about $300 above your self-imposed limit of $1000 but I feel that it is worth paying that extra bit for it. Go without beer and junk food for a month and you will set aside enough for the difference.
At least, check it out. |

If you play the majority of the time plugged in, you should consider the Yamaha NCX1200R. The electronics in those NTX and NCX series guitars are very good. The NCX has a full depth body and a twelfth fret neck join. I had an NTX700 and I loved it when played amplified, but the NTX has a thin body and a 14fret neck join, so suffered a bit in volume and dynamics when played acoustically. I did not care for the slightly narrowed nut width either. The 1200R has a full depth body, 12 fret body/neck join, and a full 2inch nut width, so it should sound just fine acoustically. As a plus they come with a sound hole cover to help with feedback issues when amplified ( well, at least the 700 series comes with one). Rosewood back and sides. About 1000 USD

Another option is the La Patrie Concert CW QI. Solid cedar over solid mahogany, electronics and a cutaway. Price for a new one should be $700 or less.
