Default Is Taylor ES-B mono or stereo output?

I’m thinking about replacing the end pin on my Taylor GS mini-e. The guitar has an ES-B pickup system.

Does anyone know if the ES-B outputs a stereo or mono signal?

As a curiosity, does anyone know whether the ES-2 or any of the ES-1.X units are mono or stereo?

I assume stereo signals end up being reduced to mono if the 1/4-inch cable is not TRS or if the DI box is mono...

Taylor gs mini basically have the same behind the saddle pickup like the es2 with a different preamp. So its mono using a normal TS jack.

None of the Taylor systems were ever stereo. The ES1 was a balanced system using stereo outputs and plugs but if you used a stereo to 2 x mono cable or plugged into a stereo non-balanced input you would get very little signal at all as it cancelled itself out...

The original ES1 didn’t need a DI box for the same reason, the signal was already balanced. Plugging into a non-balanced input (say a floor pedal) would give you a mono signal with a lower level than the proper balanced signal.

In my opinion it was a good idea that wasn’t thought through properly; balancing devices (DI boxes etc) are often cheap enough and can be put near the end of a signal chain after effects and tuner pedals etc before the acoustic amp or inputs to a mixer. Professional guitarists will often have their own DI or know that a given concert situation will have technicians with the right equipment. Having a balanced output already from the guitar only really makes sense if you’re plugging the guitar directly into an acoustic amp or mixer, otherwise the advantages of balancing are lost as soon as the instrument is plugged into a regular line- or instrument-level mono input.
