Default Fawlty Towers joke quartet...

Hello All:

This is probably not the proper place for this thread, but...(the classical crowd may know).

I was sitting at the farmer's market yesterday (April 1 -- April fools day) and tuned into the local classical station (yes, San Antonio DOES have a classical station). I immediately recognized the tune playing...I think...(because that would be so rare!).

I think it was the theme to Fawlty Towers (TV show). After it finished the announcer called it the 'Joke Quartet' by Haydn. That certainly would have been fitting for the day and the [English] sit com 'Fawlty Towers'.

I knew it was a joke when I tried to count the measures towards the end. I, being numerically challenged, thought that it should be simple to count to classical music (you know, 1and1and1and). The joke was on me as the conductor/leader was having fun with the measures at the end...

So is the the theme to 'Fawlty Towers' the Joke Quartet? Or is the joke on me?

Be well, the alternative sucketh mightely
D

Default Googled it!

The series theme music was written by Dennis Wilson and was inspired by Ludwig van Beethoven's Minuet in G major.

"You'll have to sew them back on first."

Couldn't help it. My favorite line from that show. For those who know.

I have no idea what any of you are saying, but this might help answer the OP's question....
