Default What if carbon guitar gets wet

I have an old (few years) CA Bluegrass Performer, which I am told is a Legacy with no electronics. But, pic I saw of Legacy had silver tuners and mine are black. But anyway, the only metal I see on this guitar are the center part of the machine head an the gears on back. I wonder what metal? Would they rust if the guitar got wet? Mind you, I am not going to throw it in the creek, just curious about having it around the campfire and a storm comes up.

Well, it won't hurt the water, that's for sure. Saltwater may be problematic. Squirt them tuners up with some non-silicone lube of some sort, wipe 'em off once in a while.

Go to 1:48 in the following video to see how Composite Acoustics displays the guitar at NAMM shows... should answer your question. Don't think it has electronics though.

Good point about the gears by the way!

Paddle faster!!!

Pretty sure the tuners are stainless (My Rainsong's are), so other than salt water splash, shouldn't be a problem.

That was just a spare one Alistair (Emerald Guitar owner and builder had at my house for such photos). And a crazy Canadian (Joel) in the water with it. I didn't do that with mine yet...though I have a couple that could if needed.
