"The Nylon Salon" could be a possibility.
Ideally, something short that encompasses both classical leaning, and non-classical leaning, nylon string guitar enthusiasts.

I am another who would participate in the forum and I would like to reinforce a couple of the ideas mentioned above:

1. I think the emphasis on "nylon string" rather than "classical" is good. It does not exclude pure classical, but would be inclusive for those of us who play a variety of things on nylon--jazz, latin, folk, rock, etc.

2. I would like to really be able to discuss playing rather than overemphasis on gear, i.e., what we play, how we arrange it, etc.

Cool

Yes, I like Brent's idea (and everyone else's) about having a sub-forum for nylon guitar. I just bought a Yamaha NTX900FM and love it. I searched quite a lot before pulling the trigger on this one. I just did not like the feel of the standard classical. I also do not play classical music. Such a sub-forum would give us the opportunity to talk about playing and about our gear, kinda like the Taylor Forum. michael s.

I would agree having dealt with "jazz snobs" in the past I can imagine how classical purists might be inclined to take over. However just viewing how few look at the Play sub forum compared to the others it would seem as if the board is heavily gear oriented.

J.R....I humbly suggest we keep the new nylon string subform as general as possible, allowing discussion of all aspects of nylon string guitars, e.g., guitars, music, performance, technique, amplification, etc.

Here's my shot at a name and short description:

Strictly Nylon

"A place for discussion related to nylon string guitars and gear, music styles well-suited for nylon stings, and technique/performance specific to nylon string guitar music."

The Spanish Connection would be a great name for the subforum. This would include all classical, flamenco, crossover, & hybrids. Is this subforum officially a GO?

I too would love to see a sub-forum for nylon string guitars, preferably one kept fairly general - classical, jazz, folk, gear, playing tips, composition, etc.

I like Dognax's suggestion above: "A place for discussion related to nylon string guitars and gear, music styles well-suited for nylon stings, and technique/performance specific to nylon string guitar music."

I've also been thinking about doing a classical/nylon string Acoustic Guitar Forum CD. Any interest?

Sounds good even to a guy with a $99 classical.

I just started on a classical after years on a steel string for variety in my playing. I would look forward to participating in a nylon string forum.

There is one currently on the UMGF. I have learned alot on that forum. I like the AGF too. Seems to be a greater diversity in age on this forum. I think a stricty nylon section would do well here. I feel the longer we keep this thread going, the greater our chances become of getting it done.
