Default (SOLD) Sobell Martin Simpson Model

For sale is a 2012 Stefan Sobell Martin Simpson signature model guitar with Malaysian Blackwood back/sides and a European Spruce top. This guitar really is quite beautiful and sounds amazing (see video). The interesting history of this guitar is that when Mark Knopfler first visited Stefan's shop to buy a guitar from him this was his first choice. He apparently played this one for a few days with the intent of buying it but then ultimately decided he had to have something in Brazilian Rosewood (I have an email from Stefan verifying this). The guitar is in mint condition in that it looks exactly the way that it did when it left Stefan's shop. However, there is a finish flaw (a buff through) on the binding on the bass side of the upper bout. I have tried to capture this in the last image but it is pretty difficult to capture in a photograph. I honestly had the guitar for a few weeks before I even noticed it and the guys at the North American Guitar (where I bought it) never noticed it in the time they had it in the shop. I had this checked out by a local luthier and it is 100% cosmetic with no structural issue with the guitar. I am the second owner and bought this roughly a year ago for ~$11k but need to unload it to help cover the cost of an upcoming custom build delivery. This guitar was $15k new and it comes in a custom Calton flight case that would have taken the total to $16,200. I am asking SOLD plus shipping. This is a serious deal on a very rare guitar. Reasonable offers will be considered. This guitar is going to consignment on ~6/17 so act now and save both of us some money.

Specs:
Back/Sides: Malaysian Blackwood
Top: Master European Spruce
Binding: Ebony
Purfling: Custom Birds Feet
Neck: Wenge (very comfortable shallow C)
Headstock Overlay: Cocobolo
Nut: Bone (1 7/8")
Saddle: Bone
Scale: 25.6"
String Spacing: 2 5/16"
Tuners: Gotoh Gold
Rosette: Concentric Circle Birds Feet

Default sobell

it's my duty to testify that this Sobell is the very best 6-string instrument i've ever played, with sound like no other, and somebody had better buy it quick before dharwin regains his sanity.

Default Please Clarify

The recording links to a 2012 MS with all the same woods, but a 1 3/4" nut and a Highlander pick-up? Did they really miss the difference between 1 3/4" and 1 7/8? Can't imagine you're off on the nut width.

It is the same guitar but TNAG was wrong in their specs for it in their listing. It is a 1 7/8" nut and does not have a pickup. It is also in a Calton case and not a Hiscox. I assure you that this is the same guitar as what is shown in the linked video. If you look closely at the photos on their site you'll see there is not pickup jack.

Default Martin Simpson Sobells

I can vouch for the quality of these Martin Simpson Sobells!

This guitar is priced to sell. You won’t be disappointed, especially at this price point with the Calton case.

If you want a guitar with a unique, clear, sustaining voice - Here it is on a silver platter!!!

Peace!!!

Great deal on a Sobell and a super case. You don't see these too often.
The seller responded very quickly and thoroughly to my questions.
Unfortunately I have found that I need a guitar with some depth to the neck.

Love the sound in the TNAG video and in the YouTubes I've seen of Darrell Scott playing his Sobell MS flatpick and fingers hybrid style.
