Default NGD - PRS SE Paul's Guitar

Thanks to those that chimed in for my previous thread about deciding about getting an electric guitar and choosing between a PRS and a Taylor. While the Taylor SB-1 is really nice looking, hard to not get a PRS.

This is a pristine ''used" (can't find a mark on it) PRS SE Paul's guitar in Aqua color. What I especially love about it is how cool the paua shell inlays look on the fingerboard and tie in with the aqua body color. The feel, sound, playability are all great, and very happy to have a PRS electric once again after having had one years ago that I sold. It came with the PRS gig bag, and at a very reasonable price given it's condition.

Now my next step is to acquire a relatively inexpensive electric guitar amp to play it through. Due to budget constraints, I am leaning towards the Boss Katana 50W MKII, which has some nice amp modeling and effects on it. These only run $239.00 brand new, and maybe can find a gently used one here locally for less than that.

Anyway, I digressed.............here is what I'll now affectionately call ''Aqua Woman", with all of her lovely looks, curves, and appointments.........

Nice. I have one of those in the same finish. Really nice playing guitar. The single coil mode actually sounds really good, compared to most splittable coils. You should have a lot of fun with it.

Fantastic! I'm happy for you that you were able to pick it up.

I think the Katana is a great way to get an amp with effects and to learn about the different signature amp tones and effects.

Well, you obviously have great taste....and enjoy the "flame" from the hotness......

I saw the Katana. It's a prior gen amp, so looking for the ones that are marked by "MKII". Thanks for the lead though....

Totally agree. I look forward to spending more time seeing what all she's capable of...!!

That makes two of us brother.....

Doing some due diligence looking into different models, variances between each, and if they are the current generation MKII's, or older models. Would probably prefer the newer gen, all things being equal. Budget wise, I'm still thinking the 50W, 1X12, MKII model at $239 new. Leaves money for the footswitch and an amp cover.

Default NGD - PRS SE

Congratulations on your new PRS Jim and thanks for stopping by to show it to me. It has a very nice selection of sounds, is fun to play and sounded pretty sweet through my Marshal DSL5CR. This beauty will be a nice compliment to your Green Emerald X20.

Congrats Jim on choosing Paul's guitar.

I think you made the right decision and bought a very beautiful guitars.

I also think that the Katana MKII 100 watt is also the way to go.

My son uses the 1st generation Katana 100 watt combo at our mega church here in Corpus Christi, and gets amazing live tone.

He uses the amp on the clean Fender setting and uses a pedal board.

Most guitarists that hear him think he's using a high end tube amp, and are blown away when he tells them he's using the Katana.

Good luck in your search for your Katana.

If you've already got a full range amp for your acoustics, a Mustang Micro headphone amp is a good first electric amp which will leverage the amps you own (and my only one these days and I gig with it).

Jim,

Great choice! I think you are going to be very happy with this guitar. I did a similar thing…. A PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo. I seriously considered the Katana 50 and by everything I read and listened to, it’s a fabulous amp. The 50 also has a .5 watt switch for quiet playing. I went the Yamaha THR30ii route, but only because I just wanted a desktop play at home amp. I recently picked up a fender mustang micro as well (so I can take my guitar places and play quietly) and it’s an amazing little piece of gear. Sweetwater sent me a $10 coupon and AmEx had a little money back program, so I got mine for $60. Can’t beat it for sitting anywhere quiet practice.

Anyway, enjoy that beautiful new PRS!
