Guidance on Spruce top glue replacement
I have a Gibson J-35 with a crappy glue job - I've seen this so many times -where the owner doesn't use a humidifier and the top pieces separate. This time - the previous owner did a horrible job glueing it - basically causing a 1mm glue patch down the top of the guitar, from the saddle to the base. I'd like to remove the glue and repair somehow. The guitar plays great. There's no other problems.
Previously - on this AGF - I was told that the glue removal wasn't possible - and that the glued sections would have to be cut out and filled in with replacement spruce. That sounds awful - but I would consider having it done if it wasn't too pricey. I have no idea what this procedure looks like - can anyone point me to a webpage where something like this was done? Removal of a section of the top - and then patched with a small secition of spruce????? Thanks. |

It sounds like you will need to have a spruce splint fitted to it now
Supplied photo is part of the process before shaping and trimming, we make a v shaped splint and insert it into a groove we cut into the top
