You don't need a ball to use synthetic strings with pinned bridge. The simple way is to tie a knot at the end of the string, or for the thinner strings two or three knots. There are some specific types of knots that work well for this. Also you can buy beads in craft stores that can be tied to end of any synthetic string.

ernie ball makes earthwood nylons with ball ends...but whenever i used them I still always strung it like a ball less ended string tying in to next string etc

".Whatever brand of nylon strings you choose, I would not rely on the little plastic balls on the G,B, and E string to hold up very well. It must be the angle to the saddle from the bridge pins. I went to a bead craft store. They sell a million different beads in a million different colors and sizes to make stuff out of. These beads have a hole on them and they are very strong. I just try a knot or two, slide a bead on the string and tune it up.." That works for me, as well (mine come from my daughter's beading-kit). No need to limit yourself to strings made with ball-ends.. a figure-8 or bosun's knot on the end of the string and you're set. |

Carey;
It's generous of your daughter to share her beads. I'll probably be doing what you suggest (without my daughter's beads). |
