Default Why doesn't Ben and Jerry's make 'Cherry Garcia' anymore

I think they named this flavour after Jerry Garcia - so maybe this is an appropriate forum to ask. this was by far my favourite ice cream.

Now all B&J's products seem to have these really hard bits in them - mostly hard lumps of chocolate chips, so I have to switch loyalty to Haagen Daz.

I love Cherry Garcia, but only rarely treat myself otherwise I'd weigh 450 lbs.

The grocery store in my little town still has it, just saw it in the freezer recently. Didn't buy any though.

It’s still available in Massachusetts.

Trivia — the little guys sold out to the big guys.

Ben & Jerry sold their company to Anglo-Dutch multinational food giant Unilever, who currently own the brand.

The Dreyer's subsidiary of Nestlé produces and markets Häagen-Dazs products in the United States and Canada.

Cherry Garcia has not been seen in Britain for years, maybe this is part of some genius corporate strategy, all I know is that I don't buy Ben & Jerry's anymore.

I've noticed this trend in just about all brands of ice cream in my area. It actually requires some searching in the supermarket freezer section to find an ice cream flavor that doesn't have some chips, nuts, candy pieces, pastry shells, graham crackers, pretzels, cookie pieces, etc. I'm okay with soft swirls of caramel, or chocolate syrup or some fruit, but there always seems to be something hard or chunky added these days. I'm not a fan.

I'm a man of simple tastes - Breyers Original Vanilla topped with Hershey's Special Dark syrup, been eating it for the last 60+ years...

Default Why discontinued?

Out of respect for the dead, I presume. To establish the flavor while the man was alive would have been a tribute, if he was consenting. To continue it after his death would be disrespectfully capitalizing on his name.

I’m a huge fan of ice cream in general. I love the Ben and Jerry’s “Chunky Monkey”.
That being said, I’m am currently on a reduced carb and zero added processed sugar and foods containing it diet. I am also lifting free weights like I did back in my bodybuilding days. My goal is to get to between 12-15% body fat by June. I’m doing it for health reasons and vanity.
That together with the price of that product is sufficient deterrent.
Nothing against what anyone else chooses to spend their money on tho’.

They've continued with it for at about 25 years after his death. I didn't hear anyone complaining. They still sell Grateful Dead albums, too.

Still available at Target in Los Angeles.

I'm more concerned about why I can't get Edy's/Dreyer's Espresso Chip in Los Angeles. Only place I can get a scoop is out of a giant tub at the Diddy Riese cookie store. I guess one can get it wholesale, but not in a retail 1.5 qt like their other flavors.

My observation is that it's one of the most commonly available flavors, you can even get it in their "Eskimo pie" type chocolate covered pattie variations.

Now their New York Super Fudge Chunk, that's harder to find than it should be.

Sorry to post incorrect info. It's just that it is not available anywhere in Britain anymore. It's reassuring to know it still lives on in America - it might even be worth a plane fare - that and the Martin factory.
