Best tablet app
I am trying to work with MobileSheets Pro on my Kindle HDX and so far I hate it. Really all I ever need for most of my songs is the "security blanket" of knowing I can look over at the words. I DO have maybe 20 that I need to be able to see the chord (just basic lyrics with chord letter written above, not sheet music or tab). Is there a SIMPLE app (mobilesheets pro is arduously complex and I am a web designer by trade, so I don't think it's me...)
I thought of just having PDFs, but I would like to see my set list IN THE ORDER I WANT and be able to click and have it open. Any suggestions would be so amazing! I REALLY don't want to have to bring a 3 ring binder on my first acoustic gig. Thank you all! (PS, I'm not opposed to buying an android tablet...probably NOT an ipad though ONLY because I'm too used to PC / Android and use a samsung S8 for phone so it would be nice to stay with the same basic architecture) |

OnSong is excellent, does what you need, but you need an iPad to run it, there’s no Android version.
https://onsongapp.com/ The usual disclaimers apply......IMHO, YMMV etc.

Actually I believe there is an Android version now. At least it said so on the website.

I've had great luck with SongBook - I run the app on my Samsung S7, my Galaxy Tab S (due for an update on that one) and on PC. Simple internet search/import for songs. Chordpro conversion tool included for stuff that's not formatted in Chordpro. Auto-scroll for longer songs. Gesture to change font size. Playlists. And everything saves to a single Dropbox.
Good Luck!!

Do you have a link to the piece where it’s stated that there’s an Android version?

I use an Android app called Lyric Pad.
It works with plain text files, and you can set a large font size if it's a question of being able to glance at it. Then if you want colours, scrolling speeds, etc, you can still down into the tag codes. Worth a look, but not for those who want sheet music, tab etc. |

I prefer Unrealbook but I believe it's also only iPad.

OnSong seems to be the consensus pick for the most features and sophistication. It would be overkill for me, though. I use something called GuitarTapp Pro, which I think cost me $10 or so and there's a free version too. Basically keeps all of the songs I'd ever want organized and synced between my two iPads and iPhone. No idea if there's an Android - actually I just looked and it's available on the Google app store, so I guess it is Android compatible. I don't know if you can sync a whole band up like you can on OnSong, but it'll do waaaay more than I need it to...

I've been using Setlist Maker for years and it does the job for me. Very customizable. I'd like to try OnSong if I could figure out a way to export my charts to it from SetList Maker.

I really dislike Apple products and am currently using OnSong only because I won an iPad 2 at a company event. OnSong itself is excellent but now that my iPad is showing sings of age (slow and non-upgradable iOS), I am not looking forward to spending the $$$ required for an Apple device; they are just too pricey for what they do. I'm struggling to find a non-iOS app that imports pdfs like OnSong but hope I can find a decent app before the iPad 2 dies. MobileSheets appears t be the closest to my needs.

I use the Ultimate Guitar app. It's a yearly subscription but if you hit a sale it is something like 10 or 15 bucks a year. Lot's of versions of popular tunes, and plenty of obscure ones, too.

So I got a Windows tablet, big screen detachable keyboard.
What are my options for a lyrics app? I typically do not need chords, and would like to be able to convert/scan my Word or PDF sheets into the app. Really want the option for black background/white text, too. I found Power Music software, but it doesn't appear ot have the black/white option.

I like Mobile Sheets myself, primarily because it is cross platform. One license purchase and I can use it on my Windows 10 devices and my Android devices. Syncs the various devices via Google Drive.
But then, I have simple needs so this works out well for me. D
