Might be worth a look. No pick-up but one could be added for $100 +/- depending on what you like. IMHO this is a lot of guitar for under $1k.

I'll chime in and recommend an Eastman E10SS - short scale, smaller nut, delicious tone and you can find used ones all the time on Reverb for around $1k. Really pleased with mine, and would be great for your purposes!

The d13 is a nice guitar. If you’re leaning Martin dread I might keep an eye out for a used D18. Can often find them close to that budget and can always add a pickup.

I have to agree. And Alvarez is building the same guitar with solid rosewood back & sides for 2021. (MD70BG) I believe it's around $850? Add a K&K mini and you're set.

Find another $250 and get the Yamaha FGX5 from Sweetwater. Lots of YouTube vids show you how it looks and sounds plugged in.

I just ordered an Alvarez Yairi WY1TS that should arrive on Saturday. You can talk most places down to 1450.00 on it or lower for the non sunburst version. The nut is slightly narrower than the 1 3/4 on most Taylors and a lot of Martins and Alvarez Yairis are great guitars. Actually all Alvarezes are and you can save some money on their Masterworks Elite series. I'll let you know my thoughts when mine arrives.
