Default 000 for Woody …..Final shots

You guys remember Woody
He has ordered two new guitars, {I believe this makes 9 and 10 } and though I had originally planned to take this first guitar pictured here to BIG it’s hard to pass up a commission. (If anyone else wants a build it won’t happen until 2023).

This will be a standard 000 with Florentine cutaway, 12 fret neck of course, 25.5 inch SL
It will have a small arm bevel and a sound port.
The back and sides are a sweet little set of Brazilian rosewood that needed a center wedge (also Brazilian) to get the desired width.

The top is one of the nicest sets of Lucky Strike redwood that I’ve seen.
The rosette is amboyna burl
Binding will probably be cocobolo

I didn’t plan on a build thread at first so the internals are not documented but it does have internal carbon fiber braces because the fingerboard will be cantilevered and the top under the fingerboard is lightly braced.

You can see the nice figure in the top.

A little mineral spirits to show finished color.

Smile If only I had the ducats….

Step up indeed! I briefly considered ordering two at once, but then my teeth decided to eat my Guitar budget… Ha ha Ha

When my next one is done, I will remain the Happy owner of four of John’s beauties. That’s probably sufficient but who knows down the line.

My goodness that Brazilian is awfully pretty, and so is the top!

Enjoy this puppy

Paul

Thanks for the thumbs up Paul. If it’s any consolation I’m pretty sure you own more of my guitars than Woody. At the moment.

Thank you Bro. I’ll agree with you, those are especially nice woods. I bought that braz set knowing full well that it was too small to do a two piece back but the purties called out to me so loud that it didn’t matter. You got to respect the purties.

I appreciate it Dennis. It especially gladdens my heart that you like the rosette. That much I can take credit for. The woods not so much, some one else had a hand in that.

Smile Respect the purties….

“Respect the purties”

That must be one of the Kinnaird Bros. Guiding Lights!

You gentlemen (including Ryan) do certainly have a wonderful way of showcasing natures beautiful woods. TONE INCLUDED at no extra charge….

On another front, I am pleased to report some previously canceled gigs starting to come back again! So, four JK Customs does not seem too many…. Any Two for gigging, and a spare and a spare spare…. Hahahaha

The problem is each is way better than the others, so how to choose???

Play on and enjoy it!!!

Paul

Thanks to all of you who have made such nice comments. Regardless of how many guitars have been built in the past, I'm as excited about this one as I was the very first one I had John build for me. What John has shared with me regarding the tap tone of these woods and the simple nature of what they are, I can't think of a better potential combination. We're building a 000 12 fret with a cutaway as that design and size suits my playing style very well. I'm gonna leave most of the posting of progress on this build in John's trustworthy hands. My calendar has become increasingly busy with my role as a financial advisor given the events that are playing out before us all. But I'll definitely chime in on this thread as needed.

Paul should not rest on his laurels, as competitors are nipping at his heels.

Mike and John, that’s a beauty! I like the look of a three piece back, especially with wood that pretty.

And wisely so! The SOUND of John’s is most satisfying indeed.

Cheers
