Quite the misconception.

Nice! I love it when players use something out of the ordinary for the genre. The players in my church’s praise team use a Godin singlecut and a J.Mascis jazzmaster which is a little different.

I love seeing other brands than Taylor used in church, other brands than Martin in bluegrass, some blues and classic rock on a shredder super Strat, some hard rock on a Tele or hollow body. Defying stereotypes is awesome.

Interestingly enough, my wife and I have never used Taylors (own four, BTW) in a P&W/CCM format - but over the last 53 years we have used:
  • Silvertone nylon-string
  • Harmony Broadway archtop
  • Harmony Sovereign acoustic/electric
  • Aria 12-string
  • Ovation Custom Balladeer 6- and 12-string (deep-bowl/non-cut)
  • Ovation Elite 12-string (deep-bowl/non-cut)
  • Guild JF30-12
  • Guild F-20BLD (maple/spruce)
  • Martin 000-16RGT
  • Gibson L-7 (1947)
  • Rainsong JM1000
  • Rainsong JM3000 12-string
  • Gretsch 6117 Double Anniversary (1964)
  • Yamaha SSC-500
  • Fender/Squier Stratocaster (1986 MIJ)
  • Rickenbacker 360
  • Godin CW II
  • Gibson LP Studio (goldtop/P-90)
  • Guild B-50SB acoustic bass
  • Guild B4E-AMB acoustic/electric bass
  • Epiphone Rivoli bass (1967)
  • Ibanez Roadstar II bass
  • Pedulla P/J bass
  • Gibson SG Reissue bass
  • Ibanez SR405 5-string bass
  • Gretsch Electromatic G5123B bass
  • Kentucky KM-180 mandolin
  • Deering D-6 6-string banjo
  • Deering Boston tenor banjo
  • Gold Tone OB-250 5-string banjo
- none of which drew undue attention to anyone on the platform nor otherwise detracted from the main purpose...

Defying stereotypes is awesome - in proper context...

One of our guys plays his Explorer and his Flying V. Other than the fact they don't fit most guitar stands, no problem!
