Steven Stills said it the best. "If you can't be with the one you love...love the one your with".
In other words, take the one you've hand in hand. Cosmetics are just that. |

This thread reminds me of the movie Last Samuri. The leader of the Samuri spent his entire life looking for the “perfect” cherry blossom. With his dying breath he stated “they are all perfect”. The moral is don’t waste a lifetime looking for perfection.
That said, I recently spent 4 hours playing 6 Custom Shop 1942 Banner J45’s at Wildwood Guitars in Louisville, Co. In my quest to find the “perfect” one for me I realized the differences were so minute that any of the 6 would have satisfied me. Honestly, they were so close to each other that I was splitting hairs. I’m delighted with the one I chose but I could have been happy with any of them. OP, I’m delighted you bought the one that sounded best to you…excellent choice.

When do you stop looking for "The One"?
Not looking for it now. Very happy with what I have. But I may start looking for 'the one' right after I find the true "Holy Grail". You know, Christ, King Arthur, and all that. Don .

When you stop looking for "The One," another one will present itself.

Buy the one you played and liked. Years back I bought a Taylor 814ce. The one I played had a ding, but it sounded fantastic. At the time I naively thought they’d all sound that way. Took a new-in-box model home. I didn’t like it. I went back a couple of days later, intending to swap, and the one I liked was gone. Returned the other and left.
So, if you played one you like, but it.

Get the one that got your juices flowing and you have faith in. The fact is not all guitars have "it" or are the same.

That’s easy. It’s when you find it and realize that you will never, ever be able to afford it.

Congratulations! I hope you enjoy it for a long time and that it fits your style and stature.
FWIW I own my one time "The One" and it's like a great pair well worn in boots. Now I'm looking at something that's better for strumming though. You can't just has one arrow in the quiver.

Glad you grabbed the one that spoke to you, irrespective of whether it's the one and only vs. the one of many. I have several guitars, including an entire rack of Rosewood dreads, so I'm not really a follower of the one and only one rule.

The OP reminds me of my son when he was young. He was a perfectionist on his homework and it was driving him crazy - when was it good enough? I told him, "Just do your best!" He moaned, "But how will I know when I've done my best?"
At some point I decided to not ask my guitars to be more perfect than I am. That made it easier for both of us. Bob

I thought I was done. BUT, I saw a good deal on Reverb for a Martin SC13e Special Burst and had too much GAS along with zero will power. Will be selling some guitars to make room for this one in the fifth wheel.
Guess this could be the one.

This is my personal experience. I gave up on the notion of "the one" long ago (and after wasting a lot of money in the pursuit of it).

Right after the next one. At least that's what I tell my wife.
