I’ve always felt that Taylor guitars best sounding models are their 100 and 200 series.

We often talk here about “diminishing returns” and I thought the same thing…the 8 series is wonderful, but I don’t think it would sound 3 or 4 times as good as that guitar.

The one series that I often tried and always put back. I’m a rosewood guy, through and through. Many others feel as you do, though.

All that being said, If I hadn’t had either of those guitars, I’d kept it. Also, it was a beautiful guitar! Fit and finish were flawless and the Koa back and sides looked great.
That was another thought that ran through my head, that I could play this anywhere. But I have a carbon fiber I use that for, which happens to sound awesome plugged in. As far as fit and finish, this 210 was gorgeous. The rosewood veneer really caught my eye.

Just this week I listed it on CL. Time to move it along.
I thought about that, too. I’m 59, so how much longer will a dread feel comfortable? But I love the feel of a big guitar, even though I am not a big guy. Too bad you aren’t playing yours. How about listing in the classifieds here?

I had a chance to play a Martin SC-13e the other day and was also impressed with how full it sounded and easy it played. Another nice gigging guitar I’m sure!
Yeah, that Martin surprised me. They had a 13, too, but I didn’t pick it up. I should play that, the 10 and the 210. It’d be fun to compare.

Every time I'm in a music store, I reach for a 214. I never played one I didn't like, and I've owned a lot of Taylors over the years. As Acousticado says, "no slouch"!

Me too, though this is the first time I really wanted to buy one. I like dreads, so that has something to do with it. Usually it’s a 214, not a 210.

My daughter bought her Taylor 324 12-string there a while back. A buddy recently bought a Martin John Mayer OM from them and had a great sales (and after sale) experience. I had some time to kill and was nearby. They had some Martin guitars, and I tried a few. I enjoyed the Road Series SC-10E, even though I don't love the offset shape. The sound was full and the sound-hole tuner was a nice touch. I didn't see any higher-end dreads. I was hoping to play an HD-35, a guitar I've been lusting after ever since I played one during a factory tour.

The surprise to me was the Taylor 210ce Plus. I thought the one I tried sounded great. It also had a beautiful Rosewood outer layer, with nice figuring. I lean toward Taylor's sound, and appreciated the little extra depth and bass, but it retained all the clarity and presence I like. It felt and sounded like a much more expensive model. I think this is the actual guitar:

I simply don't need another guitar, but wanted to buy it anyway. Anybody else play one of these?
No, I prefer Jumboes to Dreads, but I think you should have bought it anyway if it made that much of an impression on you. I also like Taylors quite a bit, which greases my thought process.

Be well and play well,

A new guitar is not in the cards until I sell at least one or two, or until my kids are out of college. Although, I’ve got a few good electrics I don’t play and would not miss, along with the Furch dread. We’ll see!

When I bought my Eastman a couple months back, I played a LOT of Taylors, and consistently preferred the 100 and 200 series over everything else I played, from 300 up to 800. I was 90% sure I was going to go 214, but then Eastman happened.

Which model Eastman did you get?
