I’ve taken a look at all your posts and although you’d stated in one that you can’t post photos, I’m not seeing any that reflect what you’ve said above. Are you trying to directly upload from your computer, by Tapatalk or from a third party hosting site?

Hi: need some help. I signed up for charter membership but I don't see a paperclip and don't see the additional options in the edit box below. Can you check if my charter membership has been accepted?

Thanks.

Check with Jeremy, AGF Administrator. Your name still shows you as a "Registered User" not a Charter Member...

Hi,

Is there an update to the Dropbox instructions ? The trick of “dl=1” posted a while back does not work reliably; I can see my posted pics in Firefox but not Safari nor on mobile.

dl=1 is usually advocated. It should work fine. Make certain that you're using the most up-to-date version of Safari.

Two other tries to try: ?dl=0 and ?raw=1.

My understanding is that ?dl=0 takes you to the Dropbox preview page and if possible it will display the image; and ?raw=1 forces the browser to render the file.

dl=1 worked sometimes, raw=1 appears to just work.

Experiment.

First image is embedded with the ?dl=1 option. Second (bottom) image is embedded with ?raw=1. Time will determine if these remain static links, of course. Currently, they work in Firefox and Chrome. But not in IE 7 (deprecation deprivation at work, no doubt). I don't have the Safari browser.

Edit: I just downloaded and installed and then immediately deleted Safari after attempting to run a compatibility test for embedded Dropbox images here at AGF. A major disapointment, in that Safari actually blocked AGF. Won't let it open. Need to manipulate the browser's Preference settings, apparently, to allow AGF to come through. Huh? If Safari by default blocks AGF--well, let's just say that that's a non-starter.

Note to mods. Suggestion. This forum should be updated for a better user experience. Two other forums I belong to, talkbass and gl1800 riders. Both allow ushers to upload pictures directly from thier computers. Also, when you go back to a previously viewed thread, you begin back to where you left off. Love this place and hope it’s here for many years. Just my 2 cents!

Got it. That’s one of the items explained. FYI - the other sites do not require payment unless using classifieds as it was here. Food for thought. I’m not going anywhere.

"Begin back to where you left off"? Not sure what that means in that context. You can get back to where you were before here with any browser simply by hitting the back function on the browser until you get to where you started.

Indeed.

This has all been brought up here a number of times before in past threads. And so it has come to pass that that direct upload suggestion has already been definitively "litigated." The final decision as I understand it is that if you want to upload images directly from your computer, become a Charter Member. The dues go to a great cause.

But, know this: Images uploaded directly by computer here (via Charter Member privileges) can be seen ONLY by folks already logged in. If you're already a member here but not logged in, you can't see an image uploaded directly by computer. Too, if somebody is passing through, surfing the net as it were, not a registered member (obviously not logged in), that person cannot view an image uploaded directly by computer to AGF. Images embedded here with a third party image hosting site can be viewed by everyone, irrespective of login status.

Ergo, Charter Members should continue to use a free third party image repository to upload images to AGF--if they want folks not logged in to be able to view their embedded images.
