As a Bourgeois owner I fall into the "not - so - enthused" category unfortunately....

For me there is no benefit. I don't see myself spending $2,000 to $4,000 on a guitar when the sub $1,000 Eastman's are absolutely incredible instruments.
I hope the blended venture works out as long as the Eastman model prices are not affected. I have no problem spending $30,000 on a motorcycle though. |

I still think this is the best strategy I've seen so far with a high-end manufacturer wanting to introduce an affordable line of guitars. They're using Dana's designs and having going with the most respected Pac-Rim manufacturer to build the guitars. That's much more impressive than say Gibson picking a factory and having Epiphones built to their own specifications. I know some of the Epiphones are great guitars, but they are not Gibson design. These guitars will be designed and quality controlled by Bourgeois, I don't see a negative.
Oh and I'm another one who doesn't know how to pronounce Bourgeois....

Call it what you will, but I really like exclusivity that goes along with owning my Bourgeois and that's gonna go away with this merger! You get away from places like AGF and the majority of guitar players I've ran into, don't have a clue what a Bourgeois is!

I’m not in the market for a new guitar myself but I see high quality, affordable instruments as only a good thing. Having heard so much good stuff about Eastman I can only imagine these will offer value for money

I understand this as a Bourgeois owner. I was upset at first as well. However, realizing how amazing my Bourgeois is comparatively to most other guitars I've played, I believe this will be a great opportunity to own a "Bourgeois" guitar with advanced technological assistance from Eastman at hopefully a fraction of the cost. The woods, the bracing and all, will still be Bourgeois product.

I assume these guitars will be more expensive than Eastmans. I'd have to think real hard before paying >$2k for an import.
Joe Veillette has a far east company building lower cost versions of his Gryphon model. These sell for $1500 in stead of >$4k for his USA version. I wonder how many he sells.

Even if we're talking about exclusivity as it relates to dollar value, I have a feeling this merger won't affect resale value. |

Any company that is going to offer more for the consumer regardless of origin is a plus.

Someone other than me is going to get to worry about the resale value of my Bourgeois.
