Does your guitar have a name?
I'm tempted to name my new one but then I start wondering if I will regret it or want to change it in the future. Is it daft getting attached to it.
I suppose another way of putting across what I'm asking is "do you have a sentimental attachment to your guitar(s)?" I sort of do, and if they got broke or stolen I'd be upset but if I could get equal quality replacements I'd get over it quickly. If I named them I think that might be more difficult. |

I tend to give my luthier-built guitars names.

Yes, I call my Collings sitka and EIR 12 fret dread my "DS2h"
I call my Collings sitka and Magogahogany 12 fret dread my "DS1" I call my Dobro , my ...Dobro, and my Lebeda Mandolin my ...mandolin. ............. and so it goes. I call my wife of forty years this year Jane, Nanny Jane or "oi you!" and she calls my Andy or Andrew if I'm in trouble. Mostly in my latter years I call most people and things "whatsisname", "thingummy" or "doodad" etc.

No, and neither do my ex wives.
(actually, some of my guitars do have names, but only those that offer one) ...

I’m in Andy’s camp - the D-18 is ‘The D-18’, the HD-28V is The HD’, the Lowden F-23 is ‘The Lowden’, and the Brook Lamorna is ‘The Brook’.
I gave my kids and my dog names. The guitars came already named.

Haha, I actually thought about starting this thread a week ago but chickened out. I'm glad you did!
My GS Mini sort of became called Jessy after about 2 years. No idea why. The hummingbird (only 1.5 months old) does not have a name yet.

If it does not come when you call it no point in giving it a name.

My kids don't come when I call them, but apparently I had to name them.

They don't have names but for the purpose of this thread why not? I'm going to go with male ones.

I had a brazillian rosewood Marthin D28 for many years. Her name was Martha.
