Default What guitar to you regret selling the most?

For me it was a Huss and Dalton TOM. I got a steal for it on the forum.
It sounded great but at the time I felt the string spacing was not wide enough. But over the last several years I've come to be more accepting about slightly narrower string spacing.

What a bonehead move. I'll never get a deal on a H&D like that. And it sounded so good. Live and learn.

Acoustic: Custom Shop 000-28. I had a strange go about with this guitar, but looking back it was by far the best acoustic I’ve ever owned. I got caught up with some QC issues that were in the end not all that bad

Electric: Gibson Les Paul R7 Goldtop. Just a dumb, dumb, dumb, DUMB mistake to sell.

Collings CJ. It was my only acoustic for several years. Hit a hard patch financially and needed the $$ more than I needed the guitar. I will have another one someday...

Early 1990s Fender American Standard Telecaster in 3 tone sunburst with rosewood fingerboard. My first "good" guitar. But if I had it back it would probably be sitting unused in the closet so whatever.

Martin 00-15M. It was my first all-Mahogany guitar and it started a long-term love affair with Mahogany.

It wasn't a mistake to sell it. I had too many all-Mahogany guitars at the time. It was a long scale and I preferred short. But I miss it every day... sweet little instrument.

I sold them because I didn't play them and they were just taking up space, but sometimes I can get nostalgic for a fretless 5 string acoustic bass I had and I pretend to myself that I'd be using it for recordings if I still had it.

*Narrator's voiceover* he wouldn't have played it at all - he didn't even take it out of the gig bag - he should get down on his knees and thank the almighty that he sold it for £50 more than he paid for it

Taylor 514ce. A really nice guitar that I should never have sold. Aren't we supposed to get smarter as we get older?

No regrets, as I’ve never sold any of them.
I still have my first guitar from ‘72.

I tend to keep guitars once I buy them, but I have sold off a few. Of those I did sell off, I don't regret getting rid of any them. In fact, to this day, I still feel relief over selling them off.

I takes me about one year minimum to find out the nuances of a (new) instrument - if it is a keeper - and after that amount of time with a new OM-21 Martin, I sold it off (today). Yesterday was the last time I played it and finally concluded 1) very touchy on the volume 2) must compensate more vigorous touch to bring out midrange frequencies 3) does best playing loudly 4) for my fingerstyle picking its bass heavy. Regrets? Can’t say really, but it struck me in the end as a big guitar with big tone, nothing too subtle about it. Next time around will be (hopefully) a 00-28. In the meantime, I have the new 000-15m, hardly played - so little time available to get to know these instruments.

2010 Martin Grand J-35e.
Amazing sound from that. 1 of 110 ever made.
I might buy that one again if I come across another.

A couple come to mind...

A Taylor 815c with Florentine cutaway.

A Santa Cruz 000-NB #5 of 12.

Sold both to fellow forum members.

Glenn, once you sell me your '67 Martin D-35 your statement of never regretting getting rid of a guitar will need to be revisited .
