"I always suspect that some stores don't want to stock the better all solid imports as they think it will take sales away from the more expensive Taylors, Martins and Gibsons."
My thinking is just the opposite to this. Take Yamaha for an example. Higher end Yamaha guitars are a hard sale when they are compared to makers like Martin and Taylor. Most people relate Yamaha, Epiphone and Alvarez to their entry level guitars and don't want to spend the money on their higher end guitars when they can buy a Martin or Taylor for the same price.

There are many great import guitars that rival American builds. They are a hard sell though, when you cam buy an American built guitar for the same price. I have owned several import guitars from Yamaha, Alvarez, Washburn, Blueridge, Guild, Recording King and Flinthill. All have been great guitars. My point isn't that import guitars are not good guitars. In fact many are great guitars. My point is that most folks don't buy these brands high end guitars.

Buy Used
There are lots of used guitars out there that are like new and they would really expand your buying power.

Back in August I bought a used Epiphone Masterbilt AJ-500R for $500. Hard to beat at that price.

There's a good chance you can find a used Martin all solid wood in that range on Reverb. 😉

I keep looking for one but I can't and I've been looking for a couple months. I've found a couple of the "newer" version with the cutaway and the pickup but I passed on them.

If buying new I'd recommend a Westerly Series Guild, such as the OM-240E which is similar in size to the guitar the OP mentions (Farida OT 25). The Guild OM-240E is regular scale, not short scale like the Farida, but the Guild P-240 Memoir is a short scale guitar - both of these are in your price range. I've played a fair few of the imported Guilds, and they are all amazing guitars for the money. Or a used GAD series, which is discontinued. Most of the GADS are all solid wood, and you can pick them up used. The GADS I've played are great.
