Default NGD RainSong Vintage V-DR1100N2

It's in the UPS network as of Thanksgiving Eve. It left the UPS center near LA Guitar Sales last night according to the tracking. Should be here Wednesday.

So here is the bad news, I'm an unreformed guitar giver (not including my son, one Fender, three Martin LXs, one Yamaha, one Samik, one Epiphone, and now a second RainSong). There will be no accurate A-B test against RP's old H-DR1100N2. However I bought the Vintage strictly because I'm supporting my son as he starts up a company and I thought, why not something for me just because it looks nice.

There is now one freshly minted MSW (college loans, truly distressed clients, low pay) who now has a decent guitar to survive Boston's weather and car storage in the sun and cold (upgrading a $200 Samik eyesore I gave her a decade ago).

Such a relief from another eBay hassle and I can think of myself as a decent human for a few minutes, instead of a retired capitalist sociopath :~).

High res pictures to be posted soon. There are three of them I can find pictured online. Two of them show some strange jagged stuff along the edge of the spruce veneer which I'm hoping are JPEG compression artifacts. Also, it seems RainSong is working its way through a stack of veneers sliced from the same piece of wood.

Congrats on the incoming!

"...why not something for me just because it looks nice." That is a perfectly good reason. It will be interesting to hear your take on this vs your parlors.

Jon: I think it's just as well that you won't be doing a comparison between your new Vintage and our old H-DR1100. I continue to love my Vintage, but might be disappointed if I played the two side-by-side...

I am of the opinion that the Hybrid versions take a little of the bright edge off a RainSong in a positive way (my two parlors demonstrate this).

I'm hoping what is essentially a CO-DR, which I've owned before and have video documentation demonstrating it was as bright as a Martin OM and loud as a Martin Dreadnought, now with a spruce cap sounds more like a dreadnought.

But luckily I won't really know and can just enjoy it.

I'm thinking it is going to look way better than the H-DR on a guitar stand in my living room.

If my most recent arrival is any indication, I think you'll be fairly impressed. Can't wait to see what arrives and hear what you think of it.

UPS said it was coming yesterday, but it is here today, just in time for duo practice. My Martin loving partner, who brought his 1941 000-21 to today's practice offered without provocation, "that is a very nice sounding guitar and not just loud". We both like the classic D-18-ish look (and it is as expensive as a D-18 Modern Deluxe).

Those jpeg compression artifacts I referred to above were indeed compression artifacts. Pasted below are 800 pixel wide AGF friendly pictures. Here are the links for full resolution:

Very nice ! If not for the label in the sound hole, you'd never know. I hope they do well with that line.
