does anybody have some tips in playing harp harmonics (very fast harmonic arpeggios),I cant find any tab explaining how it is done,
I read that Tommy Emmannuel had a dream that he met Chet Atkins who showed him how! ,some people have all the luck when it comes to dreaming! |

The harp type effect is actually created by alternating pick hand harmonics and picked notes.
Example: -fret this chord =x55565 (Dm11?) -play the harmonic note at the 17th fret on the 3rd string (using your picking hand, touch the string with your index finger and pick with your thumb) -pick the 1st string using your ring finger of your picking hand -play the harmonic note at the 17th fret on the 4th string -pick the 2nd string using your ring finger of your picking hand -play the harmonic note at the 17th fret on the 5th string -pick the 3rd string using your ring finger of your picking hand After doing this, you'll notice a pattern. The harmonic notes and picked notes alternate and you skip one string to play the picked notes (if you play a harmonic on the 3rd string / the picked note is on the 1st string, harmonic on the 4th string / picked note on the 2nd string, etc.) You can experiment by doing ascending and descending patterns, throwing in pull-offs on the picked notes and trying different chords (9th chords work real well). Good luck! GL |
