Some advice for a new fingerstyle guitar?
Oops, in wrong subforum ! How can I delete this thread?
Hi there, went to our local guitar shop today and totally fell in love with a Lowden S32. But I don't want to make a quick decision so maybe you guys know some other guitars I can try? I currently have a Taylor 12 fret and recently sold my GC4. I don't want another Taylor guitar anymore, I'm looking for a different sound. Not in the Martin-sound direction. I really like small-body guitars. Budget is around 3500 dollars. Thanks! Merel

I think I would take a look at the Santa Cruz 1929 line. There is a, according to the seller, virtually brand new 000 1929 for sale right now in the Classified section.

Does this mean your custom build is no more? Or do you have to give in to a GAS attack?
Edit: You can send an email to the mods to put your thread in the right subforum..

Merel, I really enjoyed listening to the songs at your website. You bring a lot of softness out of your Taylors and I can see that you would enjoy a Lowden. For a couple of other suggestions (both small body):
Lance McCollum made simply beautiful fingerstyle guitars. They are easy to play, they are each works of art and they sound warm and friendly and very three dimensional. This second hand one at Dream is a good price - http://www.dreamguitars.com/detail/2...um_meghann_m72 Given the modern sound of your Taylor you may enjoy a guitar by Mike Baranik – his top of the line models are not cheap but his Retreux model has less fancy wood work and a more affordable price. Mike’s guitars are a dream to play and again have great warmth and depth to them that you may find appealing given your playing style. I still had a Taylor 514ce when I bought my first Baranik and much as I liked the Taylor it just stayed in its case once the Baranik arrived. Can you get across to TAMCO for more ideas? Good luck, Colin |

Thanks for the nod, Trevor!
Merel, for that price we can indeed make you a nice guitar. But to try one, like you suggested, is another matter. Where are you located? Steve |

Marc Beneteau Guitars
Merel,
I've played quite a few Lowdens as there is a dealer not too far from my home. However, none of them has compared to my Marc Beneteau guitar. There is a great looking Beneteau Nick Lucas small bodied guitar for sale on AGF right now. Al Petteway really likes this model as well. Here is the link: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=248217 I'm sure you could make an offer for this great looking guitar at or very close to your budget. John |
