Default ToneDexter and AKG C1000S Microphone

Has anyone used this combination for training?

No but I own both. I see no reason why this wouldn’t give you a decent result.

I used a C1000 for training and found it to be a bit honky, though with some eq is is still better then no TD/Training.

I also have an M149 and a 414 that I have trained with (on hypercordiod) and found them to be a bit better, but not by much, considering the price difference. But they are large diaphragm mics and it is suggested to use a small diaphragm mic. I still have a $100 dynamic mic I have to try, and eventually will rent or buy a better SDC mic to train with.

As I mentioned before and imho, All and all the tonedexter is an improvement but I prefer a dual source mic/SBD

I do find it workable as a 3rd source for recording when doing vocals and guitar at the same time.

I contacted AudioSprockets and James May responded. He looked at the specs of the AKG mike and confirmed that it would be optimal for TD training. He recommended using one of the recommended microphones for training. Since were looking for an optimal response I’ll follow James recommendations.
