Default First "not funny" song I've written in awhile...

Sort of...

I did a comedy podcast for a number of years, and most of my writing veered toward the comedic side. As I've been focusing more on getting a live act together, I've been wanting to throw in a few more "serious" tunes. Even my live act does some "joke" songs, but I want to mix it up.

So, I drudged this one up - I originally wrote the verses about 12 years ago, but I revised them, cleaned them up a little and added the bridge.

I appreciate any comments, keeping in mind that my guitar playing is suspect at best.

The song is called "Goodnight".

A codependent love song if ever there was one. Edgy. Makes me squirm in my chair and want to laugh to break the tension, but it's "not funny". Very good. A complex and discomfiting portrait.

Really nice tune. Great all around playing, singing and production.

Thanks for the comments. Personally, there are some things I'd like to do recording-wise to sound a little more "pro", but I've gotten things down to the pseudo-studio (aka my iMac) in the corner of my bedroom where I can get to this level pretty quickly. I think taking the next step would be significantly more time and expense.

Yeah. I liked it a lot. Sort of an unresolved situation; dynamic tension and all. No deep truth revealed. But a nice consistent storyline that held my interest.

Sounds good.
